Are you in our zone?
Our school zone is available at findmyschool.vic.gov.au, which hosts the most up-to-date information about Victorian school zones.
Students residing in our zone are guaranteed a place at our school, determined on the basis of your permanent residential address. Our school manages enrolments using the Placement Policy to ensure students have access to their designated neighbourhood school, and may enrol at another school if there are available places.
Your child’s journey starts here
The Department of Education has released the statewide Foundation (Prep) enrolment timeline for the 2027 school year. All government primary schools follow this timeline in 2026 to support enrolments for 2027.
Apply to enrol your child in Foundation (Prep) 2027 at Tecoma Primary School. Download the enrolment information pack from Enrolling in Foundation (Prep), or apply via Vic Students online.
Submit an enrolment application for Foundation (Prep). Later applications are processed as received, in line with the Department’s Placement Policy.
You will be notified of the outcome of your application during this window.
If you receive an enrolment offer, contact our school to accept it.
Take part in enrolment information and our “Step into Prep!” transition sessions.

Starting school is an exciting and important milestone in any child and family’s life. We welcome new students and families into our school community through our “Step into Prep!” program.
“Step into Prep!” gives our newest students the opportunity to spend time with their future teachers and peers over four transition mornings during Term 4. These sessions give our future preps a sense of familiarity and ease with their learning environment, and allow parents, children and staff to get to know each other and the school setting in a positive and relaxed way.
“Step into Prep!” offers opportunities for our new students to begin building the quality relationships that become the foundation of learning in years to come.

A big buddy from day one
A key part of our transition program is our Foundation Buddy initiative, where each Foundation student is paired with a Grade 5 buddy. Students first meet during the Transition Program — including a buddy picnic in Session 4, a wonderful opportunity to build their relationship in a relaxed and welcoming setting.
Once school begins, regular buddy sessions run throughout the Foundation year, offering peer-led activities for play and learning both in the classroom and on the playground.
Every Thursday afternoon during leadership time, Foundation and Grade 5 buddies come together for shared activities. Sessions are sometimes centred on our school values and BounceBack program, and at other times connect to our Inquiry topics — taking students on a journey through areas as varied as transport and space exploration.
Grade 5 buddies take great pride in helping their Foundation buddies feel safe and settled at school, and their enthusiasm for learning is genuinely contagious. These friendships don’t end with the year — they carry through as students move up. Past students have even spoken of being welcomed by their buddies on their first day of high school. They really are special friendships.
Wearing our colours with pride
Our school uniform builds a sense of belonging and school pride, and supports our SunSmart Policy — hats are worn in Terms 1 and 4.
For the current uniform list, price list and purchasing details, please contact the school office on (03) 9754 2354. Second-hand uniform sales are also run through our Parents’ Association from time to time.
Moving on to secondary school

Victorian secondary schools conduct tours, with updated enrolment policy information on their websites.
Tecoma Primary School will be in touch with Year 6 families to confirm all student details are up to date, allowing smooth transfer of information to your nominated high school.

Tecoma Primary School stands with gratitude and respect on Wurundjeri Country. We acknowledge the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Owners of the land where our children learn, grow and play beneath the mountain ash, and we pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging. This land always was, and always will be, Aboriginal land.
